Volunteer Opportunity: LGBT Disabled Group Volunteer

LGBT HIP is supporting the set-up of an LGBT Disabled Persons Group. The group currently meets once a month, either in a café or in a meeting room in central Brighton. We are looking for a volunteer who can support the group by helping to facilitate monthly meet-ups and online communications.

Solidarity with LGBTQ Communities in Orlando

Our thoughts are with the victims and of the mass LGBTQ shooting at Pulse in Orlando and their friends and families. We join others in sending our love and solidarity.

Tragedies like this can bring up a lot of emotions for LGBTQ people and the impact can be far reaching. If you need someone to talk to, please ring our helpline and leave a message. Our trained volunteers can call you back and provide a listening ear. Our helpline number is 01273 204050.

LGBT HIP is working with Whitehawk Inn to set up a brand-new monthly LGBTQ group in Whitehawk!whitehawk-logo

We had our first meet-up in May and it was great to meet and discuss what people would like from a group. The people who came said they would like an opportunity to get together socially, and have a place to support each other and share experiences.

LGBT Disabled Peoples Group: Board Games and Social!

Join us for the next LGBT Disabled Peoples Group meet-up at Alcampo Lounge on London Road on Friday 24th June from 3 -5 pm.board-games-537x358

Alcampo serves coffees and alcoholic drinks, as well as food so there should be something for everyone. If you are in the mood for a board game, please bring along your favourite or play one of ours. If you would prefer to just chat and meet with others then come along for that!

If you identify as LGBT * and are keen to contribute to our community, we would love for you to volunteer with our LGBT* Affirmative Counselling Service. We offer the chance to be part of a supportive team and receive regular  supervision.

IDAHOBIT LGBT Awareness for City Councillors – Speakers Wanted!

To coincide with International Day Against Homo/ Bi/ Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), LGBT HIP is co-ordinating an LGBT- Awareness Learning Session for City Councillors in Brighton and Hove.

Councillors are directly elected to represent people in their ward, including LGBT people. This important session aims to increase awareness about issues and barriers that LGBT people in their constituents may face.

The half-day event will consist of a facilitated session led by HIP, as well as a panel discussion with local LGBT people.

We are looking for LGBTQ people who would like would like to take join the panel discussion. This opportunity is open to people who work, volunteer or use LGBTQ services in Brighton & Hove, or other LGBTQ community members.
