Switchboard is delighted to be one of three LGBT+ charities chosen by Tesco for their Bags of Help grant. This scheme gives community projects like us grants of up to £8000 – all raised from the sale of carrier bags in Tesco stores.
To celebrate Tesco’s long running support of LGBT+ Pride events across the country they are running a special ‘Bursting with pride’ voting round for Bags of Help in selected stores across London, Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff. Tesco customers will be able to cast their vote with a token for one of three LGBT+ charities, including ourselves, Terence Higgins Trust and Allsorts.
The charity who receives the most votes will receive £8,000, the second placed project £4,000, and the third placed project £2,000
You can vote for us throughout July & August across most Tesco stores in Brighton. To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value, and cast your vote using a token given to you at the check-out (if using the self-service check out you may need to ask a member of staff for a token).
You can vote each time you shop in Tesco, and it’s not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token.
Please do remember to pick up a counter and support us in your local store as this money could make a world of difference to a small charity like ours!
