As a charity serving the LGBTQ community, we rely on corporate support to help run our services. The Breakfast Club are a recent addition to our corporate sponsors, and we’ve been grateful for their support to our Older LGBT project at their new cafe in Brighton. The staff we have had contact with have been genuinely inclusive and keen to establish the Brighton cafe as a meeting space for older LGBT people who often struggle to find welcoming spaces. The Breakfast Club told us on 24th June of their plans to purchase the former Black Cap in Camden and the opposition to this from LGBT protesters. We of course recognise the value of the Black Cap as an LGBT community hub, and support the campaign for more LGBT community spaces. The Breakfast Club have assured us that they will do everything they can to ensure that the LGBT community is supported and included in their plans for the venue. Switchboard will also continue to work to create safe spaces for LGBT people in Brighton & Hove.
